Waveney Ali...

I have now started doing boxing session and am absolutely loving it.

On Sunday I convinced my friend Elena to come along and try a Boxfit session at Boxing Central with me.  I was petrified about going alone so I am truly thankful that she was will to support me and give boxing a try too!

We turned up to the class (me feeling very inspired having just come from NYKO Auckland) and walked into a gym... not just a gym but a professional fighting and boxing gym! Holy shit!

Bags everywhere, people lifting more than I could even imagine anyone lifting, big fully ripped guys strutting around and women who were out of this world toned! Then there was me! Hahaha.

First big decision was what colour wraps I wanted - went with yellow because pink is far too girly and Mohammed Ali didn't get to where he got to with pink bloody wraps! Had to borrow gloves which were minging and the smell alone was enough to make me walk out and go home!

Class started with FIVE minutes skipping! ARE YOU KIDDING?? so I did bursts of 30seconds each time stopping making it seem very convincing that something was wrong with the rope.

Class started with technique and I actually felt like I picked it up fast - think my dancing background helped me with coordination! The class continued on and I was getting more and more physically exhausted but something kept me going! I was starting to love the feeling of being tired from exercise!

This is a major breakthrough for me! I was able to complete the whole class and walked out saying - I get why people feel so good after working out! We even booked in for a PT session two days later and I am now the proud owner of my very own boxing gloves :)

Next morning woke up feeling surprisingly great - not hurting at all! Text Elena and said I was feeling fine...she was too! All was good in the world! I then even jumped on the cross-trainer and did a 30 minute hill session.  Afternoon struck and I couldn't move! My back was so sore and I felt like I had muscles in place that they shouldn't be! After getting messages from Elena (who was in the same amoutn of pain) asking if we were going ahead with training the next morning, I replied yes and then proceeded to lie on top of my electric blanket (on a super hot night) trying to get relief from what felt like wings growing out of my back!

The PT session I had today was great though - although no walk in the park! Denzil is amazing and really encouraging! He said I have good technique and punch hard for a newbie! Am really stoked that he is the guy who will be PTing me and am pumped for my next class on Thursday!
